HabitTrak is a habit tracking application that helps you build and maintain daily habits. We take your privacy seriously and are committed to protecting your personal data.
Information We Collect
Account Information
When you create an account, we collect:
- Email address — used for authentication and account recovery
- Authentication tokens — securely stored on your device for session management
When you sign in with Google or Facebook, we receive your email address and basic profile information from those providers. We do not access your contacts, photos, or other personal data from these services.
Profile Information
- Display name — optionally provided during onboarding or in profile settings
- Avatar color preference — a visual preference stored locally and in your account
Habit Data
The app stores the following data that you create:
- Habit names, categories, icons, colors, and frequency settings
- Subtasks within habits (including checklist items and their creation dates)
- Completion records (dates and times you mark habits and subtasks as done)
- Streak data and statistics
- Daily notes, journal entries, and mood selections
- Reminder preferences and notification settings
- App preferences (theme, timezone, week start day)
Automatically Collected Information
- Timezone — detected from your device to ensure accurate date tracking
- Device type — used by our cloud infrastructure for compatibility

Photos or media
Browsing history
Advertising identifiers
Analytics or tracking data
How We Use Your Information
Your data is used solely to:
- Provide the app's functionality — tracking habits, calculating streaks, sending reminders
- Sync across devices — if you create an account, your habit data syncs via our cloud service (Supabase)
- Send notifications — habit reminders you configure, at times you choose
We do not sell your personal data, use your data for advertising or marketing, share your data with analytics services, or profile you based on your habits.
Data Storage
Local Storage
All habit data is stored locally on your device using encrypted storage (MMKV). The app works fully offline — no internet connection is required for core functionality.
Cloud Storage
If you create an account, your data is synced to our cloud database hosted by Supabase. Data is:
- Encrypted in transit (TLS/HTTPS)
- Stored in secure, SOC 2 compliant data centers
- Isolated per user with Row Level Security — no one can access another user's data
- Retained until you delete your account
Third-Party Services
Data Retention
- Local data is stored on your device until you delete the app or reset your data within the app
- Cloud data is retained as long as your account is active
- Deleted habits are soft-deleted and may be retained for up to 30 days before permanent removal
Your Rights
- Access your data — use the "Export data" feature in Profile to download all your data as JSON or CSV
- Delete your data — use "Reset everything" in Profile to delete all local data, or contact us to delete your cloud account
- Port your data — export your data at any time in standard formats
- Opt out of cloud sync — use the app without creating an account (local-only mode)
Children's Privacy
HabitTrak is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us.
Notifications
The app sends local notifications only when you configure reminders. We do not send marketing notifications, promotional messages, or push notifications without your explicit permission.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the app or via email.
